February 22, 2013 – Sandra Calvert, Professor of Psychology and Director of the Children’s Digital Media Center, has been appointed to serve on a special subcommittee of the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences Advisory Committee (SBE/AC) of the National Science Foundation (NSF). The subcommittee will be convened to examine the causes of youth violence in the aftermath of the rampage killings at Newtown, Connecticut, as well as the kinds of additional research that need to be conducted in this area. The report was subsequently delivered to Representative Frank Wolf, who had requested the report from NSF to prevent these kinds of tragedies in the future.
