Yaxin is a postdoctoral researcher who joined the Lab for Relational Cognition in August 2024. Yaxin’s research program examines both low-level visuospatial perception and imagery and high-level spatial thinking and creative cognition. She studies how children and adults represent geometrical and physical objects, the computational mechanisms underlying spatial thinking, and the emergence of gender differences in the spatial and STEM domains. A current focus of her research is modeling and fostering creative cognition in the context of human-AI hybrid intelligence. She is particularly interested in understanding what makes humans creative and how to enhance creativity for the benefit of society.
